Wait

Wait

Wait,

O Caterpillar.

I know you are longing to fly

currents of air you are wanting to ride,

the fact of crawling squeezes your heart

the prospect of flying relieves your heart.

Amidst the toiling

crawling

twinging

transforming

you wait,

just wait.

Wait,

O Seed.

I know you want to spread in all fours

a home you want to be for beetles and crows,

the darkness around tries to shake your faith

but the light in your heart saves your faith.

Amidst the isolation

silence

perturbation

penance

you wait,

just wait.

Wait,

like a snow-covered tree waits for Spring

like Jacobin Cuckoo waits for Rain

like a lover waits for his Beloved.

The casing is cracking

a butterfly is emerging.

The coating is cracking

a shoot is emerging.
