The Default and The Deliberate

The Default and The Deliberate
Our default-ness has the potential to be Genghis Khan. Our deliberate-ness has the potential to be Gautama Buddha.

Our animality

is default.

Our humanity

is deliberate.

Our default is

where we are no different from animals.

Fear,

Greed,

Envy,

Attachment,

Lust,

Pleasure,

Security,

Body-preservation -

animals have it,

we have it,

automatically,

with no dignity of achieving any of them.

But,

this is not our end,

this can't be our end.

The animal ends at fear,

Human doesn't have to,

for he CAN know Fearlessness.

The animal ends at greed,

Human doesn't have to,

for he CAN know Service.

The animal ends at envy,

Human doesn't have to,

for he CAN know Compassion.

The animal ends attachment,

Human doesn't have to,

for he CAN know Love.

The animal ends at lust,

Human doesn't have to,

for he CAN know Chastity.

The animal ends at pleasure,

Human doesn't have to,

for he CAN know Joy.

The animal ends at security,

Human doesn't have to,

for he CAN know Faith.

The animal ends at body-preservation,

Human doesn't have to,

for he CAN know Sacrifice.

CAN.

If he deliberates

toward it.

Our deliberate

is where we act upon

the felt call to be human.

The deliberation

which demands sheer effort

to break the chains of default-ness

served on silver-platter.

Our humanity

is where this 'CAN'

seeks manifestation,

and we deliberately surrender to it.
