"Did you live?" - Life
So you are planning to spend
the years of unmatched energy levels
and enthusiasm,
running after goals which are not yours
worrying to complete the tasks
which don’t really yield anything,
just so that one day -
when all of life has been sucked out of you,
when those unmatched levels of energy
would be a thing of the past -
you can say with a sense of pride:
"I am retired"
“I have worked 50 years to reach here”
only to find life standing in front of you
with its one and only question:
"Did you live?"
and you stand looking perplexed
and feeling betrayed
like a student in an exam
who sees an out-of-syllabus question,
because all your life
you were expecting to be asked in the end:
"Did you complete everything on time?"
"Did you work enough hours?"
" Did you run fast enough?"
"Did you possess enough material?"
"Did you talk shit about enough people?"
"Did you deceive enough people?"
?
But it's too late until we realize this.
Too late to look into the course of our lives.
Too late to analyze what made us choose the things which we prioritize our entire life.
Too late to ask "Was it all worth it?"
